The streets of our cities and towns are set for a better tomorrow. These streets can be clean and safe to step on without fear of accidents or injuries. The streets in our cities and towns often become the focal point for the dangers faced by pedestrians. They also find themselves congested with an abundance of cars, leading to traffic jams that hinder road movement and create pollution problems. Zapatlela is an app that aims at providing footpaths which will help in making our cities safer for pedestrians, while also creating a cleaner environment in the process. It reduces congestion on the roads, ensures the smooth flow of traffic, increases public transportation productivity , lowers average speed by 10% thereby reducing pollution levels significantly . Zapatlela was launched on December 23, 2017 in Bangalore and is a joint venture between Anirudh Sharma and Arunachalam Muruganantham. Anirudh Sharma is an IIT graduate while Arunachalam Muruganantham is a Padma Shri awardee. Zapatlela app will provide useful information to travellers such as transportation timings, bus routes, distances from one destination to another and also the quickest route from one location to another location. The app will add value to users by helping them determine the best travel choices for their trip. Zapatlela will track the user's current location and estimate the quickest route to get to different locations. The app will make use of GPS technology, smartphone maps, traffic information and even satellite images to provide the fastest route, eliminating traffic jams by using alternate routes. It can also recommend alternate routes if there are more than one way to get from one place to another. Both the user's current location and their planned destination can be shared with friends on Telegram or on social media through Zapatlela's social media channels. The app will also display information about nearby transportation services such as car hire, taxi rentals and low-cost buses. It will also provide information related to gas prices, availability of public transportation like buses, trains and the best routes for pedestrians to take to reach any destination. The app's team plans to offer additional services such as services related to food delivery. The service will be provided by local restaurants and eateries matching the user's preferences as per their current location. This will help those travelling from one point to another without a vehicle or with a vehicle that is unable to transport them on time as per their leisure needs. Zapatlela was launched on December 23, 2017 in Bangalore. The app was launched with a donation of ₹8,000 to the city's Bediki Foundation by Anirudh Sharma and Arunachalam Muruganantham. The app has been downloaded over 600 times from its first day of release as a new app on Google Play Store. The team intends to widen the user base for the app by making it available on all major smartphone operating systems such as Android, iOS and Microsoft Windows 10 Store.
